Born into a family of musicians, I was singing, playing piano, and performing by the time I hit first grade.

As I grew up, I explored all kinds of instruments—piano, voice, guitar, trumpet, and marching bass drum (hello, drumline 🙌🏼).

And as one of four musical sisters, you bet we grew up singing quartets and performing duets.

That early love for music led me to study it professionally.

I earned my degree in Professional Music from The School for Music Vocations, where I later returned as a full-time instructor.

This is where my career took off.

I learned all about jazz and classical piano and everything in between.

How to arrange for various instrumental and vocal groups.

How to properly conduct a rehearsal.

How to write and record my music.

And gained experience in teaching classes such as:

Music Theory, Recording Studio, Vocal Jazz Ensembles, Concert Choir, Psychology of Success,

along with private lessons in Classical Piano, Jazz Voice, and Classical Voice.

✨ It was magical ✨

But alas... the school was stuck in a corn field in the middle of Iowa

And as someone of the LGBTQ community, it was feeling harder and harder to keep myself in that life.

So in 2017, I left my little magical music school and moved out to Denver, CO to pursue my dream of opening my own private studio in a city 😎

And just like that, my first business baby, Creative Roots Music Studio was born.

Over the last 8 years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching hundreds of students in the Denver area.

While I never pictured or intended to take my teaching business online, of course, Covid had other plans for me.

In the throes of the beginning days, I revamped my entire studio and learned how to conduct online piano, voice, trumpet, and guitar lessons.

It was wild.

But we did it.

And now it's opened the doors for this.

It's allowed me to see past the limits of how we've done piano lessons for years and extend my teaching beyond the 3 mile radius around my studio.

...so over the last couple of years, I've started dreaming up a new way to conduct lessons.

Something more flexible.

More affordable.

And curated for the modern adult learner who just wants to learn music to get their mind off the daily grind.

Where you won't be the only grown-up in a sea of 9-year-olds.

Or be harped on for how much you practiced last week.

Just a fun little corner of the internet where you get to learn how to play the piano your way with a supportive community of like-minded humans.
